Dolphins Slot Machine Review. The underwater theme has been used by most slots makers at one time or another. Ainsworth, the company created by the founder of Aristocrat, Len Ainsworth, has done a great job of tackling this with Dolphins. For me this has the feel of a live slot, rather than one which was built with online play in mind. Ainsworth has decided to launch their online slots as a partner with an existing gaming network. For players, this means that the choice is never limited. While Ainsworth itself only contributes around a dozen slots to the network itself, you can enjoy the best of both worlds at our featured casinos. Slot Cinema is your go-to site for all the best live play streaming, land and online casino slot machine videos. We also have reviews on where to play online casino games for real money plus you can have a spin on all the best free online slots from IGT, Bally, NETENT, Aristocrat, Ainsworth.

Initial reviews from players indicated that Ainsworth delivered a high-quality gaming cabinet that can host premium gaming content. It is likely you seen this cabinet if you are an avid slot player at brick and mortar casinos. In the summer of 2016, Ainsworth announced their innovative A600 slot machine.

Introduction
A must-hit-by jackpot, or mystery jackpot, is one that is guaranteed to hit by a certain point. So, there are two good things about a large jackpot:
- The jackpot itself is larger.
- The probability of winning it is greater.
As with any progressive game, at some point the jackpot becomes large enough to sway the odds in the player's favor. This page will examine these 'target points' on some new slots by Ainsworth with mystery jackpots. I also have a page on the same subject about WMS mystery progressive slots.
General Rules
Following are generally how must-hit-by progressives work.
- The jackpot starts at a defined minimum amount.
- A point at which the jackpot will hit is randomly chosen on a uniform distribution between the starting value and maximum possible jackpot.
- A certain percentage of money bet, known as the 'meter rise,' will be directed towards the jackpot.
- When the meter crosses the predestined win point, the player will be awarded the jackpot.
This is how the Ainsworth games appear to work. To be specific, the ones I played at the Red Rock casino have these specifications:
Ainsworth Red Rock Slots
Jackpot | Minor | Major |
---|---|---|
Starting point | $20 | $350 |
Must hit by | $50 | $400 |
Rate of increase (based on bet) | 0.45% | 0.20% |
Please be advised that other Ainsworth games may have different criteria than the above. The tables on this page apply only to the type of games I played at the Red Rock casino on May 9, 2013.
This page assumes that a jackpot is equally likely to trigger anywhere between the starting value and must-hit-by maximum. This seems to be true for all makers except AGS. The reader should be warned that AGS must-hit-by jackpots almost never hit until they are near the must-hit-by point. For example, the large jackpots are supposed to hit by $5,000, but it is rumored in the advantage player slot community that they rarely hit below $4,990. So, please do not apply the information in this page to AGS machines.
Math
The general formula for the Target Point can be given as:
t = m × (h + r) / (h + 2r), where:t = Target Point
m = Max jackpot
r = Rise of meter rate
h = House edge of game (taking into consideration the average value of the progressive)
An unknown piece to this equation is h, the house edge of the game. No casino is going to tell you exactly what a given slot machine is set to. So, you may have to resort to industry averages. The following table shows the averages for Clark County, Nevada (where Las Vegas is). You can see for penny slots, which must-hit-by jackpots tend to be on, the overall house edge is 10.77%.
Clark County Slot Win to 11/1/2017 to 10/31/2018
Denomination | Casino Win (pct) |
---|---|
$0.01 | 9.97% |
$0.05 | 5.54% |
$0.25 | 7.11% |
$1.00 | 6.34% |
$5.00 | 5.51% |
$25.00 | 4.99% |
$100.00 | 6.22% |
Megabucks | 12.34% |
Multi-denomination | 5.26% |
Total | 6.82% |

Although the information from 2001 is a bit dated, you may wish to also consider the returns of random games I sampled in my page on Slot Machine Odds in Las Vegas. All things considered, I think it is safe to assume a house edge of 8% to 12% in Las Vegas. The nicer the casino and closer to the Strip the casino is, the higher the house edge will generally be. Outside of Vegas, you're on your own.

Best Online Slot Releases
While Ainsworth are most famous for providing land-based casinos with physical machines, the last few years has seen them place a bigger emphasis on ensuring those titles are released for players who want to play slots online too, so let's look at some of the most popular Ainsworth slots to be released at online casinos to date.
One of the most spectacular releases is that of the Jade Emperor slot machine which provides you with a taste of Chinese culture as you set off to meet the Emperor at a lavish temple where you could be gifted free spins and there are four jackpots to be won. Another release which has captivated players is the Light ‘em Up slot machine which will see you enjoy a fabulous show where beautiful female performers dice with fire for your entertainment.
Aristocrat Slot Machines
So hot slot machine. While you won't find licensed slots based on movies and television shows, which I find rather surprising considering the funds available in the company, you will find slots of varying themes. Everything from Asian themed slots to those based on Native America to those set in the jungle and numerous animal-themed slots are available in their catalogue of games to ensure something for everyone.
Final Thoughts on Ainsworth Slots
Your opinion on Ainsworth slots will ultimately come down to your preference when playing slots online. Those of you who want to get in as many spins per hour as possible while enjoying a well-designed, solid slot will enjoy games from Ainsworth, while those of you who prefer to engage in a story with 3D characters and cinematic scenes will certainly want to avoid these games.
Ainsworth Slot Machines
Personally, I find that releases from Ainsworth have become somewhat predictable in recent years as a similar setup and sounds are used in so many of their releases with a free spins mode and gamble feature as exciting as many of them get. Free tokens for gsn games.

Saying that, Ainsworth still have a large catalogue of slots to develop online versions of so we won't write them off just yet, but fingers crossed they invest their funds in licensed slots and more imaginative features in the coming years!
